Sheep Hat

The sheep hat pattern is a mixture of knit and crochet. The hat is knit while the ears are crocheted. The crochet portion is in chart form along with written instructions. The loop stitches is explained in the instructions.


14”/ 35.5cm (21”/ 53.5cm) circumference
Stretches to fit up to a 17”/ 43cm (24”/ 61cm) head
Length from brim to crown: 5”/ 12.7cm (7”/ 18cm)


Baby: Cascade Yarns Cascade Heritage; 437yds/ 400m; (75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon); fingering weight:
1 skein each in 5618 Snow, 5601 Night, 5613 Tutu

(Adult): Cascade Yarns Cascade 220; 220yds/ 200m; (100% Peruvian Highland Wool); worsted weight:
1 skein each in 8010 Natural, 8555 Black, 9477 Tutu


Size 3/ 3.25mm, 12”/ 30cm circular needles
(Size 8/ 5.0 mm, 16”/ 40mm) circular needles
Or preferred small circular method
Size B/ 2.25mm (G/ 4.0mm) crochet hook
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.


Knitting: 24sts/ 36rows (16 sts/ 24 rows) = 4x4in/ 10x10 cm in Stockinette Stitch
Crochet: 32sts/ 32rows (20sts/ 20rows) = 4x4 in/ 10x10cm in Single Crochet
Exact gauge is not crucial as long as the stitches are tight.
